A family-friendly guide to the USA
While hiking and camping are common ways to experience the Great American Outdoors, there are definitely plenty of theme parks, museums and other fun attractions to discover.
For sunshine and laid-back beaches, California and Florida are the big ticket items, with famous places like Miami’s South Beach and California’s Huntington Beach – the original Surf City USA and home to the US Open of Surf.
For kid-friendly US cities overflowing with attractions, the choice is a difficult one … New York City with its incredible hubbub of humanity? Washington D.C. with its iconic monuments and living history? Las Vegas with myriad mind-blowing hotels that double as theme parks or wildlife enclosures plus the breathtaking array of entertainment? Los Angeles with its red carpet show biz buzz? Or if you want a bit of music thrown in, how about New Orleans, Nashville or Memphis?
All over America there are incredible museums, records of history and prehistory, everything from the Dinosaur Trail in North Dakota, the history of espionage in Washington D.C., to the history of the Blues in St Louis.
And of course for snow bunnies, there’s the Rocky Mountain states of Arizona, Colorado, Utah, California, Nevada, Wyoming, Idaho and Montana – all with world-class snowfields and all with that famous American service.
