Wild’ Bear Grills Survival Academy. It was envisioned by no other than Bear Grylls OBE himself and has been designed to appeal to the adventurous spirit of kids and kids at heart alike.
Bear Grylls-inspired survival with an Australian twist
As the country emerges from lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many families are seeking to get outdoors and reconnect with nature. There’s never been a better time to ditch your devices for a real-life Bear Grylls adventure, allowing you to experience Australia’s natural landscapes like never before.
Dubbed ‘Shipwrecked’, the program has been created with kids aged four to 17 in mind, although parents are more than welcome to join in the fun. During four hour-long missions, you’ll learn how to light a campfire and tie knots, as well as search for native bush foods like witchetty grubs. Discover the natural materials that nature offers to build your own bush shelter and learn the techniques of spear throwing, then settle in (perhaps a little muddy) for a well-earned damper feast.
From the Gold Coast to the Grampians
The Bear Grills Survival Academy will be taking place on weekends and school holiday periods from April 9 at the NRMA Treasure Island Holiday Resort on Queensland’s Gold Coast. It is also being rolled out across NSW at the NRMA’s Darlington Beach Holiday Resort, South West Rocks Holiday Resort and Ocean Beach Holiday Resort at Umina Beach on the NSW Central Coast. From May 1, Victoria will be joining in on the fun at the NRMA Halls Gap Holiday Park in The Grampians, with the partnership set to run for three years.
