Did you know that cancer is the second highest cause of mortality in children under 14 years, and second only to injuries and poisoning?
That’s a scary statistic that means many of us will, at some point, be touched by childhood cancer, either within our own family or through our friends, neighbours, workmates and school communities.
Out & About with Kids proudly supports Camp Quality, whose mission is to create the best quality of life for every child in Australia who is living with cancer, by providing essential support services to kids and their families. Through every stage of the cancer journey – from diagnosis, treatment and remission to heart-breaking bereavement – Camp Quality is there to help at school, at home, in hospitals and out in the community.
With over 1,800 volunteers nationwide, but just over 100 staff members, Camp Quality programs supported 12,000 family members in 2015, and those volunteers donated around 300,000 hours to Camp Quality last year!
The award-winning FREE Kids’ Guide to Cancer App is the first app to explain cancer to kids aged 8 – 13 and is available to download from iTunes and Google Play.
As a not-for-profit charity, Camp Quality relies heavily on the generosity of everyday Australians and corporate partners to maintain their many valuable programs.
