Rather than trying to get the kids to eat more fresh fruit and vegetables, I decided to try and have them drink it instead! Cue three gorgeous – but ‘food fussy’- members of my family, all with vastly different tastes of course! So George Foreman Mix & Go PRO to the rescue. I arrived home with the box, ready for them to rip it open and experiment. We read-the-easy to follow instructions together and then I handed it over to them, supervising carefully, of course.
The fruit platter was at the ready, with a couple of carrot sticks and spinach leaves hidden to the side! Each child made choices based on their favourites, and five year old Felix was the most adventurous, allowing both carrot and spinach into his dairy-free concoction. He downed his smoothie and the verdict was “Yum!”
Lil was next… milk yoghurt and banana in the jug – and with one press of the automated smoothie function, her creamy delicious healthy treat was ready and downed in a couple of happy gulps.
The oldest one Audrey had her own plan. She used the personal blending bottle instead of the jug, and her siblings went into instant envy mode! She created a fruit and ice drink that quenched her thirst and her desire for a fruity treat. Audrey – now a Mix and Go expert – prepared this from beginning to satisfying end. Justifiably proud of her creation, she declared she would make another one in the morning to take to school for post-sport nutrition.
Thumbs up all around from my family!
If your family is jumping on board the smoothie trend, the George Foreman Mix & Go Pro is a terrific way to go. My only advice? Make sure you have a personal blending bottle for each one of your kids to avoid any battles!
