Explore Europe with your family

So many countries, so many experiences. Europe is a right royal treasure trove of history, culture, beauty and cuisines.

There is so much more to Europe than capital city capers in Rome, Paris and London. Having kids in tow doesn’t mean you can’t discover a Europe of wide open spaces, magnificent natural scenery, historic castles, ancient towns, rural villages, wonderful beaches, fabulous food all just waiting to be explored.

And best of all, getting around is easy with remarkably efficient and fast train services, cheap flights, family-friendly coach tours and competitive car rental (if you are brave enough to drive on the right!).

European holidays with kids

Many parents trotted off to Europe after their schooling days, with a backpack, a rail pass and travellers’ cheques, travelling for a month, or three, or even a year. These same parents are now packing up their kids to experience a little taste of their favourite parts of Europe, and with cheaper airfares, fantastic rail passes and good deals of hire cars, it is easier than ever.

Climb the Eiffel Tower in Paris, have a Sacher Torte and a strudel in Vienna or indulge in a paella in Barcelona. Ride a gondola in Venice or a bike in Amsterdam. Visit historic Australian battlefields in France or Belgium, and let the kids live and breathe ancient history in Athens, Rome, Pompeii and London.

Sail the Dalmation Coast in Croatia or island hop in Greece, explore Switzerland, swim on the French Riviera or shop on the Kurfürstendamm in Berlin. As for skiing, the snowfields in the Italian Alps, France, Austria and Switzerland are about as good as it gets.
