Canberra’s Enlighten 2015 dazzles!

Questacon

Enlighten 2015 is fabulous family entertainment … the event will breathe light, colour and movement into Canberra after dark from 27 February – 7 March, with a range of family-friendly activities, interactive light installations, entertainment and special ticketed events.

Now in its fifth year, Enlighten will transform the Parliamentary Triangle into a dazzling arts precinct featuring free entertainment and the event’s trademark architectural projections, which will illuminate six of Canberra’s most iconic buildings.

Parliament House

The event offers loads of fun and interactive entertainment for kids:

  • Swamp Juice – a puppet show unlike any other! Each scene magically transforms bits of household rubbish into captivating shadow cartoons!
  • Laser Tag at Questacon – this action-packed laser adventure will see you duck and weave through Questacon’s shadowy Awesome Earth
  • The Glow Cave – create your own light projections with voice-activated apps and watch them dance in your own personalised light show.
  • The Kaleidoscope Cubby – a hands on, drop-in art project right in the middle of Old Parliament House.

Fire

The popular Night Noodle Markets offer the perfect family feast, letting parents and kids enjoy the spectacle of the lights, while tucking into dinner on the move.

Ticketed events include the Royal Australian Mint’s 50th anniversary celebrationParty Like its 1965, the National Museum of Australia’s By The Water concert featuring Katie Noonan and the chance to enjoy a sunset on the roof of Australian Parliament House.

Kids and lights

Enlighten 2015 features two Australian firsts – the extraordinary Spanish aerial act, Voala Station, and a spectacular light installation called Voyage, which will be staged on Lake Burley Griffin.

Musical magic can be found in the Electric Garden with a range of DJs and bands such as Melbourne indie pop outfit Alpine, and Canberra natives Liam Budge and Crystal Barecca. The soulful indie-jazz band Lake Street Drive will also come all the way from the USA.
