Out & About with Kids is a multi-platform publisher specialising in family travel. Our innovative monthly digital magazine features stories about Australian and overseas holiday destinations, hotel reviews, advice, interviews with industry experts and celebrities about their favourite holiday experiences, and the latest travel products families need to know about. In addition, the Out & About with Kids website also showcases the hottest deals and competitions. We also publish a regular newsletter, and actively engage with our loyal followers on Facebook and Instagram.

Elisa Elwin
Publisher
Born in San Francisco and based in Sydney, Elisa Elwin is the owner of Elwin Media Pty Ltd and publisher of Out & About with Kids. A mum to two daughters and a social worker by profession, Elisa is deeply passionate about encouraging families to spend quality time together while travelling. Her approach is anchored in tolerance, understanding and the acceptance of diversity in all its forms. She believes family travel is far more than a holiday — it’s a vital pathway for children to disconnect from technology, immerse themselves in nature, develop patience, and build an inclusive worldview by coming to understand communities beyond their own. Over nearly two decades she has built strong, long-term relationships with an extensive network of domestic and international tourism partners on a foundation of professional integrity, balancing business with infectious energy, good humour and a commitment to authentic global storytelling.

Jon Wolfgang Miller
Designer
Out & About with Kids’ in-house designer, Jon grew up in the UK and now lives by the beach in Australia, after a brief stint in Northern Thailand. With an obsession for how Out & About with Kids looks visually, Jon ensures all products show families the best travel spots around the world.
Jon loves being outdoors – whether it’s hiking in Patagonia or cycling around European cities, he can’t stay still. Travel highlights include riding a tuk-tuk 4,000km across India, and staying in a treehouse on the Amazon River in Peru. His lifetime mission is to visit every country on the planet, mostly to try the food, and see which country tastes best. He is only a quarter of the way through this list, but figures he has plenty of time left.

Dan Campbell

Growing up on the Sunshine Coast in the 90s, writer Dan Campbell credits the Big Pineapple for his lifelong love of kitschy travel experiences. An eclectic career in web content has taken him to some curious places (and so far, he’s tracked down a bubble tea store in every city he’s visited). These days, you’ll find Dan in a Brisbane cafe, sipping a long black and delving into all things kid-friendly travel. As well as oversized fruit, he loves exploring local history and foodie culture wherever he goes.

Having travelled everywhere from Arnhem Land to the Arctic and Christmas Island to Easter Island prior to becoming a mum, Angela is now relishing exploring the world in a different way with her son in tow. With a Diploma in Journalism, Angela’s career started as a copykid at Sydney’s The Daily Telegraph. After completing her cadetship on local newspapers, she spent two years travelling the world, tasting life as a ski bum in Whistler, Canada and living the expat life in London. Upon her return, she gained her dream job as national travel reporter for News Corp Australia, staying in the role for four years before embarking on a freelance career. She moved to the historic town of Bangalow in the Byron Bay hinterland in the middle of a COVID-19 lockdown in 2021.

Flip Byrnes
From kite skiing polar plateaus to marathon running, Flip has always been an avid adventure lover and writer. But now she is on her biggest adventure of all – motherhood. Flip is passionate about family travel and relishes Travel 2.0 in a slower, more immersive style. She finds introducing her two daughters to our incredible world (often on solo, meticulously-planned jaunts) is the richest of experiences. The great grand-daughter of Antarctic explorer Frank Hurley and award-winning journalist aims to eliminate the fear of family travel and encourage others to explore, whether that be to a souq in Morocco, or a trip to the local park.

Meg Law
At home on Victoria’s famous coastline, The Great Ocean Rd, Meg has worked in the travel and tourism space for more than two decades as a journalist, content creator, and more recently as a travel writer. With a degree in journalism and background as a newsreader on Melbourne radio, Meg now specialises in storytelling and documenting her travel adventures across the globe with her husband and mini explorers in tow via her Travel Tales blog. Partial to nature-based outdoor adventures and good ole fashioned road trips, Meg is happiest when she has camera and pen in hand, snow boots on… or is in her kayak paddling down the river.

Shaney Hudson
A decade or so ago, Shaney Hudson snuck away from a very stressful job as a schoolteacher to travel the world, volunteering at a turtle hatchery in Costa Rica, climbing volcanoes in Ecuador, canoeing the Zambezi, and eventually finding a new gig as a travel writer. Before she became a mum, she believed the inner journey a traveller took was just as important as the physical one. However, with the arrival of her first bub, Indiana, she then gained the unique understanding of the virtues of a travel pram, the ability for a toothless toddler to charm even the surliest border guard and the importance of always, always carrying snacks in your carry-on.

Whether it’s a couple of hours at a local beach, a weekend hiking or weeks of road tripping, Megan Holbeck loves an adventure. She’s spent the past ten years waiting for her three kids to be big enough to join in, and now wants them to stop growing before they’re too cool to play with her. She has been a freelance writer for more than a decade, and in another life (pre-kids) was editor of outdoor magazines Wild and Rock.

Elisabeth Easther
Auckland-based Elisabeth writes for a variety of publications around the globe, covering everything from travel and our natural world to the arts, culture, books and people. She’s also a broadcaster, playwright and actress who has recently been onscreen in New Zealand fronting the popular television series Islands of the Gulf. She loves going on adventures with her teenage son Theo, from exploring their homeland to a journey aboard the half passenger-half cargo ship Aranui in French Polynesia.

Ben Groundwater
Ben is an award-winning writer and broadcaster, a highly experienced traveller, and a far less experienced father. He’s a travel columnist for The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age, the host of the popular Flight of Fancy travel podcast, and the author of three books. Once a passionate solo traveller, Ben has recently approached travel with his young children with naive gusto, having now dragged them to four different continents, including a year spent living in the Basque city of San Sebastian with his son Angus and partner Jess. Ben now can’t even remember what travel was like without kids. He’s fairly sure that’s a good thing.

Chris Stead
Inspired by the adventures of his parents, award-winning journalist, author and influencer Chris Stead has been criss-crossing the world for more than 40 years. From sleeping in abandoned trains to luxe tropical resorts, he has done it all, travelling to more than 60 countries across every continent (except that icy one). He does all this while being the editor for international media brands and publishing children’s books through his Old Mate Media label. Nowadays, his three kids and wife come accompany him on his journeys, living the travel life as a big family.
